I wanted to take a moment to highlight how very much we have appreciated the generosity of the Arbor Memorial Richmond Funeral Home and manager Erin MacPherson this past year for hosting both the Richmond Hospice Volunteer Appreciation event in April and then again to opening their Celebration Room to us for our annual Holiday potluck in December. As a not-for-profit organization we are hard put to find space here in Richmond to hold our medium sized events and we are so lucky to have such a collegial relationship with Erin and her dedicated staff. Over the years we have held an overview of the funeral home as part of our volunteer training and the opportunity to take a tour and hear about what is new in the funeral world is an important part of the knowledge base we try to build for our volunteers. Without the pressure of having to be at the funeral home because of losing a loved one it makes it easier to hear and understand the information. The staff epitomize professionalism and are open to our varied questions and the wise suggestions that the funeral directors are able to impart is both fascinating and valuable. I wanted to take a moment to recognize the importance that the Richmond Funeral Home attaches to its community involvement and to say a very heartfelt thank you for helping our organization to recognize our wonderful Hospice Volunteers.
